 | Subject: Battlefield Heroes Reaches 3 Million Registered Players Sat May 08, 2010 11:13 pm | |
| Added On 12/16/2009 Battlefield Heroes marked an interesting experiment on EA and developer DICE's part, but has the free-to-play shooter been successful? According to an announcement from the publisher, they've recently topped three million registered players -- a number that sounds pretty successful if you ask us. Ben Cousins, the Battlefield Heroes team's general manager, tossed out some impressive figures: "Battlefield Heroes continues to grow fast with well over 50,000 new players joining us every week. Our players have already logged in over 1,300 years worth of game time and nearly 300 million kills over 150 million five-minute game rounds. The vast majority of our players play for free, but if they want to customize their character or enhance their game with weapon upgrades or widgets then there is a cool item for them in our store." The devs are celebrating this milestone by adding a new map into the mix. Called "Sunset Showdown," this new arena takes place on a small island at dusk, where the National and Royal armies must duke it out over the central village's sole control point. Sounds like it could be fairly chaotic, especially with tanks, jeeps, and infantry all focused on the same goal. _________________ |
